Sometimes life throws you curveballs and although the red flags are there, we become more comfortable in the not being alone or what’s already established so we ignore them. However, there are also times where you have no clue what’s happening or what has happened or what the future holds and you are completely blind sided. Regardless of how the event transpired, after any traumatizing experience and life change, allowing yourself time to grow and heal is incredibly important. Boudoir can be that for many people. It should never be used as the ONLY tool in your arsenal for healing but it is an amazing one to add. Miss A’s story below is one of such an experience.
Miss A came to me after a truly devastating and huge life change. She trusted me and discussed some of her personal recent life experiences. After that discussion, she chose to use this as an opportunity to help her toward her own healing. I will never say that only boudoir will heal any deep rooted issues because it won’t. It’s just one of many tools that help. I am not a therapist but when a boudoir session is grouped with things like therapy, it is an amazing tool to help you heal from a bad life experience. Miss A needed something that made her feel more confident in herself; more valued. She needed something that would help change her view of herself and would allow her the opportunity to see what others see. When Miss A received her photos, her word for word text to me was “These are AMAZING!!!! I’m obsessed!!! Thank you so much. It was an absolute joy working with you!” I think that’s a celebration, for sure.
Something I truly love during sessions is watching clients grow and adjust in that short amount of time. It’s so fun to watch a client who was apprehensive at first then blossom into a client who, by the end of her session, is choosing one of the most risqué outfits or positions. Miss A did just that. I could see her grow more and more comfortable and for her last outfit, chose something that I usually only pull out for my repeat clients or clients who are very obviously outgoing from the start. I was so proud of her in that moment for taking a risk. Watching her flourish in that moment and for the product to be absolutely stunning (because duh, she’s gorgeous) was so fun.
Miss A found me early on after our move to the DMV area. I was so grateful when she reached out to me. Even though I have almost a decade of photography experience (and frequently moving for that matter,) taking root in a new area is always so nerve racking for an entrepreneur. Having to start over is an incredibly lengthy feat. I am so grateful she picked me and took a chance with me. Because she found me earlier on, we were able to work out a payment plan that worked with her schedule, as well (always a top priority for me and a smart move for my clients.) I never want my clients to “go broke” when booking a session with me. The goal is always to work a payment schedule around your session so that it easily attainable for all that value it. Thank you, Miss A, for allowing me to be your first boudoir experience and for trusting me with your body/mind. It means so much to me.
Boudoir may seem to some like just a photoshoot. But to those of us who truly love it and believe in its magic, it is a vital part to healing. I hope that I have the opportunity soon to provide you with a similar experience where you can find joy and peace.
xoxo and with all my love,
